Open the Bible to the Book of Genesis (which means Beginning) and read through the first 2 chapters. God, placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. After He had created the Earth, the animals and plants and all living things. He looked at His creation and noticed that there was "no man to work the ground". So he created Adam, and then Eve, his "helper". He placed them there to "work and keep" the Garden.

Hmmmm, Work and Keep. These are two very powerful words which were given to the first two people. The first word is work. They were to work. Mankind, Adam and Eve, Male and Female, You and I are CREATED to WORK. After all God himself works thereby providing us an example. His main work is CREATION. He also has a PLAN for His entire Creation, a plan of which the purpose is to give that creation the opportunity to KNOW Him. He is "working the plan" everyday. He also has created a PLAN for YOUR life and he works that plan everyday too.

The second thing God told Adam and Eve to do was this: God told them to "keep" the Garden. This word means sustain, take care of, (it also means to obey as in a "trust"- "I'm trusting you with this assignment."), treat it with the respect that comes from it being a creation itself, and a gift of God to Man (Adam).

The next thing that happened in the garden was that God, after giving them the above instructions, told them something that is amazingly powerful. God said, "You may eat from any tree in the garden..."

Notice what is happening here? First He CREATED them to WORK and KEEP the Garden. Then God gave mankind the RIGHT (YOU MAY) to participate in what mankind produced.

Do you see this? God, in HIS wisdom gives us ownership over what our work produces. He permits us to PROFIT from the product of our labor. So the idea of profit, the cliche' is "the fruit of our labor" (now we know where that comes from), comes from God. He set it up that way!!! It is an Eternal Truth, not a BAD thing at all!! Notice God said to them in Genesis, "you may eat from any tree (or bush) except the one in the middle of the Garden. If you eat from the tree in the middle of the Garden you shall die. "

So it isn't a free ride, there are PROFITS that are OFF BASE. ALL profit, or produce, is NOT GOOD. There are ways of PROFITING that are NOT GOOD for us.

But this powerful understanding that the RIGHT to profit from our labor, comes directly from the Creator of the UNIVERSE!!!

And work is not only necessary or required, it is GOOD, because God is Good and HE works too even today!!

Here's a question for you: What do we owe God for this opportunity?? What do you owe him?
