God's Work In Progress- PARTNER WITH US!

Hello friends,

God's Work in Progress is an outreach of the Foundation for Excellence in Faith and Work. It's radio program, also called God's Work in Progress is the voice of the Work-Faith movement. Our vision is to transform the marketplace. We want to be a force for excellent work to Business, Government and Education and excellence in faith for all Christians working within it. By increasing positive influence on these three societal components, we make this fallen world system more effective and more Just. Our premise is this: Saving the world, begins with credibility. Credibility as a Christian is doing a GREAT job, and having a CLEAR demonstrated faith. These are the two outcomes we seek to create in people and organizations, we call it EXCELLENCE- in faith and work.

God's Work in Progress-- "The Daily Office"

I talk about this idea a lot on the show- God's Work In Progress  .

What is the Daily Office?

A. The Daily Office is an ancient way to pray. There are many ways, including your own cries to God of joy and sorrow and need. Such prayers are intensely personal, while the Office gathers up all our prayers so that we can pray together.

Q. What is prayer?

A. It is asking, seeking, knocking.

That's the simplest way to put it. The English verb "to pray" means to ask someone; we still have a sense of this with the old-fashioned expression "pray tell," when we want someone to tell us more. "Pray" wasn't a holy word at all, it was mere asking, of anyone we might meet, regarding anything. But over time its definition narrowed to mean "asking God."

Don't ever be concerned that you shouldn't ask, seek, or knock with God about something or for something. We can always ask; he likes it when we ask. We don't always like the way God answers—but He is faithful to always answer.  Sometimes the answer isn't what you ask for specifically but if you think back.  Would really want God to have answered YES to ALL your prayers? His answer is not always what you want but is always what you (and I) need. :)

Q. Why is this service called an “office”?

A. Originally “office” simply meant service, not the place where a service is performed or business is conducted. “Daily office” means the service of the day.

There is something about the idea of a daily appointment with God, in His office......

Personally for me, my daily office is The Lord's Prayer and Psalm 23.
