Righteous Free Enterprise©
So far we’ve talked about the “righteous” and the “enterprise” aspects of Righteous Free Enterprise. Enterprise is the idea that we are created to work and that work has a great deal to do with forming who we are and building our character. Work is a Godly thing and was first done by God, in the Creation of the Universe. We also have learned that our work has value and that we have the right, which has been given by God, to benefit from our work, to benefit from the fruit of our labor. We own the product of our labor, as a gift from God.
We’ve learned that God created us to work, because working is beneficial to us personally, it helps to learn and grow and mature and working produces supply for us and for others. Because we own the product of our work, we can sell or trade that product, produce or profit, (the extra). This extra is called wealth.
We also briefly touched on the idea that our enterprise or work should be righteous and that righteousness is primarily attained by seeking and doing the will of God in our work. We will obviously get into the idea of Righteous Free Enterprise more and more as we explore this wonderfully rich and glorious plan that God has for us during our brief stint on this wonderful Earth he has provided.
So let’s move on to Freedom.
Freedom- we come into the world free. We are endowed by God with Freedom. The evidence for this is our individuality, which is proven by our unique and free thought. We think, therefore we are free. Because we think freely and without restriction, we can therefore express those thoughts freely as well. We can speak, write, assemble, own property, not be infringed in the way we worship all based on this idea that God created us to be FREE.
How free? Completely. We are free to choose to do what we want. We are completely free, the only restrictions are the ones we impose on ourselves, individually and corporately. No one, not even God, can MAKE you choose to do something you don’t want to do. He can MAKE you DO something, but he can’t make you CHOOSE to do it. THAT, can only come from you; as an exercise of your free-will.
Because we are all free, our freedoms must be protected. Restriction of our freedom is self imposed and should be and is intended, to protect our own freedom and the freedom of others. This is role of morality, and in application, government. Moral Law, also given by God, guides us in the use of our free choice. Moral Law (or governance) provides us with the wisdom and insight we need to use our freedom mutually beneficially which is God’s intention. But moral law is only valuable to us if we choose to follow it.
In general, the freer our enterprise is, the better. If we understand that we exercise our freedom with the intent to also protect the freedom of others, that is, if we have, in our use of our freedom, the understanding that we are all, always free, we will, NEVER use our freedom to infringe or restrict the freedom of others. This is the “self-governance” of a free market.
Righteous Free Enterprise is free, because we are free, and is JUST because if we exercise our freedom with the knowledge that we are all free, we will naturally behave in a manner that protects that freedom for ourselves and each other.
More to come…..
